Is it safe to say attitude is a set of beliefs/emotions that I apply to my perception of a situation? Take for instance the moment a dog gets run over by a car. Some people are animal lovers and would be horrified at the occurence. Others have no feeling for dogs because they believe that animals have no soul. Other people would see the incident and just say to themselves, “It was so quick. I am sure that fellow did not feel anything.” Perhaps that same person believes in reincarnation and just knows that the dog will be fine now. Well I could go on and on. Thank God this is not an everyday thing. Yet my belief system is what will get me through this and a 1000 other things that happen in a day. And, I can change my beliefs. I can decide that the dog will live forever in a beautiful heaven. It will be the same place I will go when I pass and each moment there will be happy, sweet and peaceful. Now why would I even think about changing beliefs? Well, how many beliefs do I have that cause me pain? If someone is grouchy and yells at me I immediately reach into my belief sack and pull out the beliefs I have about myself. I never do anything wrong. I am a clutz and deserve to be punished. I am a sweet person so this other person must be having a bad day and just taking it out on me. How many beliefs do we have that were formed when we were children? So many beliefs we allow to stay and we never challenge them. Well, it is time to wake up. Look at those old beliefs that are causing pain and let’s change them. The best way to do this is to repeat to yourself with conviction the new belief. Look for proofs that the new belief is true or at least hints. Soon you have a new attitude. Be loving, caring, and at the same time powerful. This is your life. I believe it is a beautiful life.
Hugs,
Pete
